I wanted to send out a quick alert to let you know to be on the lookout for about 6 Wal-Mart cashiers missing from the NW Georgia area. They went missing sometime around 7:00 last night. I know this because I was at the Hiram, Georgia Wal-Mart trying to pay for 3 items when, to a confused and upset crowd, there was a realization that something had gone horribly wrong.
The cigarette line (10 items or less) was open. There were 2 others that were open as well. The self-checkout lines were open, but because of the severe cashier shortage, all of the lines were backed up. I am not exaggerating (as some might suggest)…I actually stopped to count the people. The shortest line was a self checkout line that had 5 people in it, and two of those were stupid looking women doing a full grocery trip. If I had gotten in that line, I’d probably still be there now (14 hours later).
I saw managers running around with desperate looks on their faces. Where had all the cashiers gone? Was there a strike? Rapture maybe? Apparently they couldn’t figure it out. I know that expecting these managers to actually step up and help run a register is too much to ask (you wouldn’t want them to break a nail), but I know that Wal-Mart requires every employee to be trained in running a register. The nice lady greeting people at the door, one of the three fat chicks at the customer service desk, somebody from housewares, and maybe a CSM could have helped.
Never fear though…30 minutes after getting in line to pay for my three items, we were on our way home. But I’ll keep looking for those missing cashiers. Let me know if you see them.
I got word from AP early this morning that the “Appendix A” project will release sometime in February. Preorders will likely commence soon at Andrew’s site. There will be a downloadable bonus track available for those who preorder.
Andrew announce this news here this morning.
Carmen Mattera is an idiot. She was running from police, and (as you might suspect), they caught up with her. So she did what any idiot woman would do in this situation: she pulls a gun on police officers. The officers opened fire on her and left her a paraplegic. Now she’s suing, claiming that the police used “excessive force.”
I love it. Excessive force. If you’re pointing a gun at police officers, you’ve got a bullet or two coming your way. I guess she learned a valuable lesson: don’t threaten a cop, because, if you do, they might shoot back.
There’s a more important lesson in this - a lesson for police officers: shoot to kill.

I’ve had several people hit this site looking for information on Andrew Peterson’s “Appendix A” project. The 2 same questions keep popping up in my email, so I thought I’d answer them here.
1. Release Date - The last date I heard for an official release was January 17, 2006.
2. Song List - What songs made the cut? I wish I could answer that one. But all I know is what I sent to Andy, and I’m pretty sure that not all of it made the cut. So, basically I don’t know.
I’ll post again if I get any more detailed (and reliable) information on the project.
The word I’ve heard is that Google will soon be announcing a low-dollar PC to be sold at Wal-Mart. About $200 is the price point I’ve heard. Apparently the OS is something from Google.
Google has done an awesome job building a better mouse trap for the search world, so it’ll be interesting to see what comes of this whole concept. Google apparrently has Microsoft in sight for a competitor.
Will the idea work? Maybe, maybe not. But I tip my hat to anybody who’s so eager to take on the man in Redmond.
