Not the Governor

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Despite my massive blogging efforts and loyal support from small business owners, I am not the Governor of our great state. Thank you all for your support. Your faith in me as a leader means more than I could ever begin to describe.

This defeat, as some have alleged, is not the end of my political career. I will spend the years ahead continuing to gain support of the local, hard-working Georgians who share my beliefs. I will, with your continued support, become the first elected, non-mud-slinging politician Georgia has ever seen.

Thank you.

Google Tip: Filetype Operator

Last night I was watching “The Office” (and laughing hysterically) and decided that I needed the theme song from the show as a ring tone on my cell phone. I’ve got a Windows PDA phone, so all I need is an mp3 file, and I can turn it into a ring tone. It’s very easy.

So I went to Google. Wonderful, wonderful Google. Using Google’s “filetype:” operator, I was able to filter the search to only include results with an mp3 file. Excellent.

The “filetype:” operator is helpful especially when you combine it with other advanced search operators. For instance, if you want all PDF files indexed within the microsoft.com domain, you can search “site:www.microsoft.com filetype:pdf” and get this. You can also add search terms to that query, so if you want to search microsoft.com for PDF documents about Windows Vista, it’s very easy.

Or you can use it to find Excel spreadsheets with passwords in them. Or Word documents with salary information. You’d be shocked what kind of information is in the Google index if you know how to find it.

I, of course, would never recommend that anybody use these powers for evil. muwahaha… :)

Church Sign

My sister sent me this.  This church is known in the area for its “interesting” quotes on the church sign.  They’ve had others even better than this in the past.  Maybe she’ll take pictures of other quotes in the future. (hint, hint)

Handiwork

Today after lunch we were commenting on the color of the leaves.  It seems that the changing of the leaves in this area the past few years has been pretty quick and dull.  They go green, brown, gone in a matter of days.  This year we got a lot of rain over the past few weeks, and the color in the leaves is just amazing.

Since we’re so close to Kennesaw Mountain, and since we really didn’t want to go back to work after lunch, we took a detour and drove up to the top of the mountain to get a better view of the leaves.  I took a few pictures with my camera phone, and (as expected) none of them really turned out too well.  The best one was this one, which is a cool panoramic shot.  This view is looking north on Kennesaw from the top of Kennesaw Mountain.  (click the thumbnail for the full size)

Farewell, King Wulfgar

King Wulfgar just walked past my cube on his way through those front doors for the last time as an employee here.  He’s headed over to Safebrowse.com to write parental controls software from now on.  He will (for the most part) be missed.

John Kerry: Moron (not MoreRon)

“You know education if you make the most of it, you study hard and you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well, if you don’t, you can get stuck in Iraq.”

John Kerry actually said that. Out loud, even. This, folks, is who a large portion of the country thought should be our President.

I say we let a couple dozen of those Marines “stuck in Iraq” get John Kerry alone in a room for about 10 minutes. Maybe then he’d have a little respect for the good people who risk their lives in Iraq and help protect his freedom to make a complete fool of himself.
