Curt @ 4:17 pm:
I’ve been going through old things lately, including scrapbooks of old–sports mostly–newspaper clippings, most of which I haven’t looked at since high school. Some of the tape used to attach the clippings to the pages had become so worn the the articles have come completely loose. The articles mostly make me feel good about myself, but some are embarrassing.
In one bible study book from high school, I found a reference in my notes of a church in Kansas that I used to receive study tapes from (keep in mind this is now 30 years later). I found the church on the web, sent them a note requesting information, and a nice lady sent me a note back telling the the whereabouts of the teaching pastor and the recent history of the church, information I had requested. That was cool.
I also found two “books” that I wrote about Camp Merrill, a church camp I attended for most of my youth. One book was a book of memories, trivial and momentus, of things that happened at camp. The other book was like a documentary of the camp. A little weird, I admit–but that’s me.
I’ve also been reading from my journal that was written in high school and college.
I found the original copy of the speech I made at junior high graduation, as president of the student council.
I ran across my copy of “Twelve Angry Men” script, a reading in which I participated, from high school.
A few copies of “Terrier Times,” the high school newspaper that I wrote for.
There’s more, but you get the idea. Fun stuff.
